Members

A KAKEN research project “A comparative study on the local situation surrounding menstruation which became a global agenda” (2016—2020) was conducted by a team of eight female anthropologists: Elli SUGITA (P.I.), Mariko SHINMOTO (Co-P.I.), Sayaka AKIHO, Misako KANNO, Mizuho MATSUO, Kazuko OGUNI, Mine SATO, and Wakana SHIINO.

We started a new research project in 2020, “A comparative study on the influence of international development on menstruation: From the perspective of gender and medicalization.” Mariko SHINMOTO is the P.I. with Elli SUGITA as Co-P.I, and we have seven new members: Sohee CHE, Koji HAYASHI, Ian KARUSIGARIRA, Kaoru MURAKAMI, Emiko NAMIHIRA, Norio NIWA, and Chiaki OKADA. We are now an interdisciplinary team of 15 members!
